The New Zealand Obstacle Sports Association

(NZOSA) is the New Zealand National Sports Organisation for obstacle sports:

We are a not-for-profit incorporated society that exists to represent the needs of our members and to further the development of obstacle sports which includes the development of athletes, coaches, officials and events.

Our mission is to unite obstacle athletes, from youth to elite, represent them and serve their needs while promoting sportsmanship and self-discipline.

The purposes for which we are established are as follows:

To bring the obstacle athletes of New Zealand together and encourage them to use their status and experience to promote and develop the ideals of sportsmanship throughout New Zealand.
To represent, develop, nurture and promote the interests of obstacle athletes from grassroots up.
To build an active regular membership dedicated to the mission and purpose of NZOSA.
To operate for charitable and educational purposes in harmony with the fundamental principles set forth in the FISO statutes.

Association Activities

Governance

The executive committee's role is to assist in the oversight of the running of the association activities. There to provide support in the form of structure, guidance and resources it also gives athletes, event organisers and partners someone to contact to help resolve issues.

Partnerships

The sport needs partners to assist in the growth, promotion and development. We work on connecting with complementary brands, organisations and people that can directly assist our members. Reach out if you wish to be a partner, establish your brand as a key contributor to the fastest growing sport in New Zealand

Standards

Through continually engaging with our global affiliates we assist Event organisers to build better experiences for their competitors. Continually looking for an opportunity to enhance participation in the sport at grassroots we also work towards pushing competitive standards to assist New Zealand's top talent to excel at the highest level

Collaboration

Working with all stakeholders is an important ingredient for progressing Obstacle Sports in New Zealand. We work with event organisers to assist with HSE and quality while acknowledging the need for financial viability. Ultimately we are here for the people of the sport, those that participate, give their time to support, our partners and of course our athletes

Officiating

Technical Officials are required to ensure a fair and safe environment at obstacle sport events. Their duties involve conducting competitions according to the rules and ensuring that athletes have every chance of achieving their best performance.

Safe Sport

Ensuring an environment and culture for obstacle sports which is respectful, equitable, and free from all forms of harassment and abuse.

Anti-Doping

Protecting and educating athletes to participate in clean sport.

Sub-Sport Groups

**Management of Sub-Sports Activities is through:

Sporting Technical Committee (eg Ninja/OCR/Adventure)

1. Reports to NZOSA Executive Committee

2. Purpose to implement the strategic directives of the NZOSA Exec and fundamentally manage the Sub-sport (eg OCR) in line with National (therefore international) Frameworks.

3. Director of Sport - Chairperson (organizes meetings, ensures alignment with National Frameworks, key contact for escalations

4. Director of Coaching - (Overseas the coaching programs, directs content, co-ordinates leaders to provide meaningful coaching to athletes)

5. Director of Initiatives - (Overseas Event initiatives, trips away, funding, media, co-ordinates leaders to progress Technical Committee action items)

(all other roles can be determined as a case by case decision by the TC who will appoint people as Team Leads for projects/Events/Initiatives
